In this intro intensive workshop we will talk about how to form cold connections in our metal, stone, ceramic work. You will be introduced to various approaches to connecting work to be worn. You will then be guided in a project that incorporates a beginner level step: connecting metal to metal. You will get the option of making a ring or a pendant. You will work with a jewelry saw, setting hammers, and additional filing tools for finishing your project. Finally, we will cover how to properly finish and care for different metals.
Come with: a vague idea or a curious desire. At the end of this workshop, you will be able to take home a piece ready to wear or gift.
Materials are included. Tools will be provided. Our private studio equipment will be introduced. Your jewelry making questions will be answered! We will be working with sterling silver and brass (optional for color).
Length of workshop is 4 - 5 hours. Come spend time in the South End and plan to stroll around the cafes, restaurants, and our locally owned shops afterwards.
Takeaway: your own hand-crafted jewelry piece. A fun new experience. New connections. Knowledge that may haunt you forever.
