Boston Made Gua Sha Tools
I have been trying to set some creative goals this year --and while I have one big one I'm working on behind the scenes-- I am also starting to try to keep more of the pieces I create and carve stocked on the website. This month, I am slowly restocking the gua sha tool!
I know it's such a loved one to gift and to own. I personally love the marbled porcelain as each one is like a custom piece of art, along with being a great tool if your hands are a bit more tired like mine get (from all the carving work! What a dilemma, but one that I love.) I think I own perhaps six or seven, because I absolutely loved their marbled pattern and honestly, I keep them in various places (travel bags), by my bed, two in the bathroom, two little pebble styles in the fridge... and I still find surprise one's tucked away so I'll have a talk with myself about sharing with others.
One of the things I quite love about being a stone setting, goldsmithing jeweler, with ceramic chemistry knowledge... is that I can talk about stone porosity as it relates to jade versus the historical porcelain testing quality. It's often overlooked, but I love that I can speak to this side of creating the gua sha tool from start to finish.
If you want to read a little bit about someone's first time practicing gua sha, please have a little gander of Genevieve's experience here.
Hope some of you stumble into my Boston studio some time!
